Julian Barnes Part1
Haven't been posting lately as I've only been producing poop. However, I got the urge after a short break, to create something out of the 2011 Man Booker Prize winner's face. It's a work in process, so the above is stage 1and, although I have some vague ideas of where I'm going to take it, I'm just going to see how it plays out and put up the various stages as they materialise. It might give a glimpse of the chaos that informs my process. Stay tuned for part 2 - coming soon(ish)

Thanks for sharing your process Russ, I am a big fan. I have always struggled with line quality! So would I be right in thinking that you scan in your rough sketch then trace over with vector drawing using adobe illustrator which gives a great smoothed line to it? Best Wishes.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for commenting, FatBoy! You're right, in principle, about the process. The 'pencil' rough was drawin in photoshop with a wacom tablet, but in my pre-tablet days I would have scanned in a pencil drawing. The 'inking' and colouring are indeed done in illustrator, but any vector-based programme should get you the same effect.
