Miles of Jazz...
Due to other important non-art based distractions, it's been a long time since any posts. While I get round to finding time to remedy this, you may want to read a little online interview I had with Jeffrey Hyatt who writes and curates a Blog/site dedicated to Miles Davis. As well as Jeff's knowledgeable and comprehensive input, his site is a great resource for interviews with writers, musicians, artists and others, all linked to Miles Davis in some way. So if you're interested in Miles, Jazz or just want to find out a little about the caricature of Miles Davis I recently drew then take a look here. Some answers I've given before elsewhere on the web but I'm hoping it still makes for a good read...

old blog header 2009
Back in the day when I started up this blog, the above image was my header. Doesn't do justice to the baby blues that the owner normally peered through, but they're still the coolest...Original image - acrylic paint on canvas board

Bobby Womack cracks up
Here's a quick-ish colour sketch of Bobby Womack to help keep this blog alive. No particular reason other than I liked the reference image.

Ralph McQuarrie
Here's my tribute to the great Mr McQuarrie, the Star Wars concept artist and illustrator extraordinaire who's died recently. I loved his paintings; especially the perspective-heavy scenes showing xwings and TIE fighters dukin' it out in the death star trench. I remember copying them at the time when they were reproduced in the Star Wars comics and mags - 35 years on and they're still lodged in my brain for 'go to' reference.

Web Site Update
Just updated the digi-pencil section of my caricature site with some recent work.
Looking to add a whole new page for digitally painted caricatures but that requires a more fundamental tooling of the site, so I'll look at that when I can can next muster the will.

Oooooh...
I wouldn't set too much store by this, ha, ha, ha! It's veeeeeery late and, often as not, the last thing I can find myself doing is mucking around in photoshop, trying different fx and whatnot. So this is just one addled example involving some illo's that normally look quite different to this. I love photoshop.
