Boris Johnson Caricature

Happy Pfeffel Friday, citizens! Been too long since last doing some ‘proper’ drawing so thought I’d tackle Winston Chur—sorry—Boris Johnson. Real pencils, real pens, real ink on real paper. Wow.

Caricature Tools: Pen and ink.

Jacques Brel

A mug stretch of Belgian singer, songwriter and actor, Jacques Brel. Apparently buried a few feet away from Paul Gauguin—according to Wikipeeeeeeeedia!

Tom Waits (WIP)

A work-in-progress screengrab of Tom Waits showing the line-art stage and clearly looking as though he's starting to feel the pressure of self-isolation...

Albert Uderzo

A tribute to recently departed cartoonist, writer and artist, Albert Uderzo. Hard to think right now of a cartoonist who surpasses him for depicting cartoon gesture and dynamic movement. And let's not forget those environments!

Terry Jones Caricature

A caricature of Monty Python’s Terry Jones; a rare trip these days for me to go into the world of total vector. I generally moved away from it—at least as far as creating line art was concerned—as I wanted to feel that I was drawing more rather than just plotting points from start to finish. I went back to it for this one because one great advantage of vector-only image making is the total control of editing it allows, which meant I could go from a basic rough (second image) to something that looked quite different in form...for better or worse!

Max Von Sydow

A farewell caricature for the great Max Von Sydow. Brilliantly introduced to a ten-year-old-me as Flash Gordon's arch enemy, Ming The Merciless. Such a great face.

Mads Mikkelsen

My face-tug of the actor Mads Mikkelsen. Sometimes I feel I'm getting close to answering the question 'how far is too far?'!

Clive James

Remembering Clive James; a great mind and a great entertainer.

Henry Fonda Caricature

A Henry Fonda caricature made rather cadaverous by me and inspired by his look in Once Upon A Time In The West.
